EDUCATION

+ Live Coordinator

RESN Live Coordinator (2-4 hours per week)

RESN Live is face-to-face group tutoring held over Zoom. A limited number of sessions were held for VCE students last year, but are looking to relaunch in a new-and-improved format for VCE and HSC later this year. We are looking for a Live Coordinator to drive this great initiative.

Key Characteristics

  • Good project management and organisational skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Friendly, people-oriented
  • Works well both in teams and independently
  • Experience with in-person or online tutoring

Key Tasks

  • Provide input into what the Live service should be whilst taking into consideration past feedback
  • Coordinating tutors and students for each session
  • Work with one of our teams to develop and implement Live in 2021, focusing on the integration of the service into the RESN Portal and ensuring that sessions are structured to provide optimal value to students
  • Hosting Zoom sessions of tutoring, collecting feedback from students and tutors

MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS

+ Copywriting Officer

As a Copywriting Officer, you will be a part of the Marketing and Communications portfolio. You will be working with the Copywriting Team Leader to plan and carry-out a number of projects including blog posts, student newsletters, EDMs and more.

Key Characteristics

A Copywriting Officer should have:

  • A passion for creating engaging, well-written and accessible content.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills and the ability to adapt tone, based on the target-audience.
  • An ability to work and communicate proactively with a variety of teams.
  • A genuine interest in not-for-profit work.
  • A professional manner and sound work ethic.
  • Proven excellence in communication, organisation and teamwork skills.
  • 3-5 hours/week to dedicate to RESN (flexible around uni commitments).

Key Tasks

A Copywriting Officer is expected to:

  • Engage creatively with all projects, and create high-quality, approachable and unique content.
  • Work effectively with others in a high-functioning Copywriting team.
  • Complete weekly tasks that are assigned by the Copywriting Team leader including blog posts, student newsletters, EDMs and more.
  • Interact with RESN's social media posts.
  • Attend weekly team meetings and contribute to discussions.
  • Attend all RESN events where possible.

+ Digital Marketing Officer

As a Digital Marketing Officer, you will be a part of the Marketing and Communications portfolio. You will be working with the Digital Marketing Manager to plan and carry-out RESN's digital marketing strategy.

Key Characteristics

A Digital Marketing Officer should have:

  • A high-level of digital marketing skills and knowledge, either through industry experience or through undertaking a relevant university degree (we welcome current students who have not yet graduated)
  • An in-depth understanding of social media and digital advertising (including proficiency in Google, Facebook and Instagram ads).
  • A genuine interest in not-for-profit work.
  • A professional manner and sound work ethic.
  • Proven excellence in communication, organisation and teamwork skills.
  • Problem solving & decision-making aptitude.
  • 3-5 hours/week to dedicate to RESN (flexible around uni commitments).

  • Help us spread the word of RESN's services to rural and regional students via online platforms.
  • Work effectively with others to carry out a highly successful digital marketing strategy.
  • Interact with RESN's social media posts.
  • Complete weekly tasks that are assigned by the Digital Marketing Manager, and meet the expectations of the organisation.
  • Attend weekly team meetings and contribute to discussions.
  • Attend all RESN events where possible.

+ Digital Marketing Team Leader

As the Digital Marketing Manager, you will be a part of the Marketing and Communications portfolio. You will be responsible for planning and leading RESN's digital marketing strategy, and managing a team of digital marketing officers.

Key Characteristics

Our Digital Marketing Manager should have:

  • A high-level of digital marketing skills and knowledge, either through industry experience or through undertaking a relevant university degree (we welcome current students who have not yet graduated)
  • An in-depth understanding of social media and digital advertising (including - but not limited to - proficiency in Google, - Facebook and Instagram ads).
  • A genuine interest in not-for-profit work.
  • A professional manner and sound work ethic.
  • Proven excellence in communication, organisation and teamwork skills.

Key Tasks

Our Digital Marketing Manager is expected to:

  • Help us spread the word of RESN's services to rural and regional students via online platforms.
  • Be a comfortable and experienced leader, and be able to have challenging conversations when necessary.
  • Work with RESN's executive team to create a successful and sound digital marketing strategy to be carried out over the next 5 years.
  • Interact with RESN's social media posts.
  • Complete weekly tasks that are assigned by the relevant Portfolio Head, and meet the expectations of the organisation.
  • Attend weekly team meetings and contribute to discussions.
  • Attend all RESN events where possible.

NO PORTFOLIO

+ Executive Officer

As an Executive Officer you will work closely with the RESN executive to implement projects that fall outside the scope of any single portfolio. You will be responsible for the ideation, planning and implementation of new projects at RESN, ensuring that the organisation continues to innovate sustainably into the future. Individuals in this role must possess excellent organisation, leadership and communication skills.

Key Characteristics

Our Executive Officer should have:

  • Genuine interest in not-for-profit work
  • Genuine interest in the education sector
  • A professional manner and sound work ethic
  • Proven excellence in organisation and teamwork skills
  • A strong ability to communicate effectively and professionally with strangers
  • An astute ability to take initiative, critically evaluate problems to find potential solutions
  • A proactive approach
  • Time to dedicate to RESN (up to and including ~3-5 hours per week - may vary between weeks)

Key Tasks

Our Executive Officer is expected to:

  • Work effectively with the Executive team
  • Maintain the progression of medium- and long-term projects
  • Oversee timelines of various projects
  • Assist with brainstorming solutions to operational problems
  • Use excess capacity to assist with projects of other Operations Team members who are managing other teams or projects
  • Complete weekly tasks that are assigned by the Executive team to meet the expectations of the organisation
  • Attend all RESN events where possible

OUTREACH

+ Outreach Officer

As an Outreach Officer for the Regional Education Support Network, you will be a part of the Outreach Team led by the National Head of Outreach (NHO). You will work closely with the NHO and Outreach Team Leaders alike in delivering the Outreach strategy to engage with regional students and groups.

Key Characteristics

Our Outreach Officers should have:

  • Genuine interest in not-for-profit work
  • Genuine interest in the education sector
  • A professional manner and sound work ethic
  • Proven excellence in organisation and time management skills
  • A strong ability to communicate effectively and professionally with members of the community
  • An astute ability to take initiative and to critically evaluate problems to find potential solutions
  • A proactive approach to their work
  • Time to dedicate to RESN (up to and including 5 hours per week - vary between tasks)

Key Tasks

Our Outreach Officers are expected to:

  • Work with schools and other organisations (either for-profit or not-for-profit) to engage with students and community - members which will ultimately promote the onboarding of regional and rural students to our services.
  • This may include, but is not limited to:
  • Securing a place at and speaking at teacher conferences, information nights, functions, and other community events.
  • Meeting with members of the community and other organisations to discuss the regional educational experience and raise awareness to these issues.
  • Coordinating community specific events in conjunction with community groups such as libraries and sporting associations that help promote RESN and enhance the student learning experience.
  • Developing and maintaining partnerships that help promote RESN with other organisations as directed by team leaders and the National Head of Outreach.
  • Provide regular updates and clear communication to the National Head of Outreach and other team leaders.
  • Attend most RESN metro events.
  • Consistently interact with RESN on social media.

TECHNOLOGY

+ Backend Developers (Django)

As a Backend Developer, you will be part of the Backend team within the Technology portfolio, helping us build and maintain our Django backend. This will involve creating endpoints to support our new React app, and implementing new projects from the various RESN teams.

Key Characteristics

Our Backend Developers should have:

  • Experience working with backend systems (e.g. Django, Flask, Express.js)
  • A solid understanding of SQL data modelling
  • A genuine interest in not-for-profit work
  • A professional manner and sound work ethic
  • Strong ethics and reliability
  • Proven excellence in communication, organisation and teamwork skills
  • Problem solving & decision-making aptitude
  • 8-10 hours/week to dedicate to RESN (flexible around uni commitments)

Key Tasks

Our Backend Developers are expected to:

  • Create endpoints in Django REST Framework for our frontend applications
  • Perform data modelling for complex SQL relations
  • Manage background tasks including automated emails and notifications
  • Maintain and update documentation so that current and future developers can easily work with our data
  • Complete weekly tasks that are assigned by the Head of Technology to meet the expectations of the organisation
  • Attend weekly team meetings and contribute to discussions
  • Attend all RESN events where possible

+ Frontend Developers (React)

As a Frontend Developer, you will be part of the Web App team within the Technology portfolio, helping us build and maintain our new React app. The React app will serve our students, tutors, and volunteering team.

Key Characteristics

Our Web Developers should have:

  • Experience with JavaScript and TypeScript
  • Experience building web apps with React
  • A solid understanding of state management with Redux
  • Genuine interest in not-for-profit work
  • A professional manner and sound work ethic
  • Strong ethics and reliability
  • Proven excellence in communication, organisation and teamwork skills
  • Problem solving & decision-making aptitude
  • 8-10 hours/week to dedicate to RESN (flexible around uni commitments)

Key Tasks

Our Web Developers are expected to:

  • Build our web app using React/Redux and the Material-UI design framework
  • Work with Firebase to integrate services such as authentication and file storage
  • Integrate our Express.js API endpoints to query data from our database
  • Complete weekly tasks that are assigned by the Portfolio Heads to meet the expectations of the organisation
  • Attend weekly team meetings and contribute to discussions
  • Attend all RESN events where possible

+ UI/UX Designer

As a UI/UX Designer, you will be part of the Design team within the Technology portfolio, helping us design and improve our web app and mobile app.

Key Characteristics

Our UI/UX Designers should have:

  • Excellent visual design skills
  • Experience designing websites or mobile apps
  • Strong ethics and reliability

Key Tasks

Our UI/UX Designers are expected to:

  • Illustrate design ideas using Figma
  • Provide the overall design of the website and mobile apps (themes, wireframes, etc.)
  • Designing graphic user interface elements, like menus, tabs and widgets
  • Produce and provide specifications and assets for developers to use
  • Understand the needs of our users and how to give them a seamless experience
  • Complete weekly tasks that are assigned by the Portfolio Heads to meet the expectations of the organisation
  • Attend weekly team meetings and contribute to discussions
  • Attend all RESN events where possible
